A camel driver storie

A camel driver named Bashir Sarban from Karachi (Pakistan) was invited by the 36th President of U.S.A, Mr. Lyndon B Johnson to U.S.A back in 1960s and he became friend of the camel driver Bashir. All this shocked the world that a U.S President has invited a common man as his personal guest and personally funded the man’s visit. Bashir was also given the keys of 3 U.S states as a souvenir and Mr. Johnson presented him many gifts including a Ford mini truck. Lyndon Johnson was in Karachi, Pakistan on behalf of President Kennedy as part of a goodwill mission, it was here that he met Bashir Ahmad in a group of camel drivers on a roadside. He pressed the flesh even patting the camels. He used a phrase he had regularly said in his travels, "You all come to Washington and see us sometime" but was completely surprised when the illiterate camel driver accepted his offer. With the press hot on his heels after the acceptance, the vice-president took advantage of the People-to-People program to fund the Pakistani's travel expenses. Another account indicates that Bashir was invited to the Vice President's ranch and that the surprise came not at the time (at least from her point of view), but the next day in the press. Ibrahim Jalis, a popular columnist in Pakistan, reported that everyone was excited by the fact that the vice president had invited Bashir to come to America. Perhaps, he had made the above reported statement while shaking Bashir's hand, leading to the misunderstanding that he had been invited. His column was favorable to Johnson, and contained the quote, "Don't conquer a country, don't conquer a government. If you wish to conquer, conquer the hearts of the people." A friend like that (Story)

One day a guy called Maxton received an automobile from his friend as an birthday present.
On birthday day when Maxton came out of his house ,a street urchin was walking around the shiny new car ,admiring it. "Is this your car ,Uncle? he asked.
Maxton nodded. "My friend gave it to me for birthday." The boy was astounded.

"You mean your friend gave it you and it didn't cost you nothing?
Boy ,I wish..." He hesitated. Of course Maxton knew what is was going to wish for. He was going to wish he had a friend like that. But what he lad said jarred Maxton all the way down to his heels.
"I wish" the boy went on ,"that I could be a friend like that." Maxton looked at the boy in in astonishment ,then impulsively he added ,"Would you like to take a ride in my automobile?" "Oh yes I'd love that."

After short ride the boy turned and with his eyes aglow ,said, "Uncle ,would you mind driving in front of my house?" Maxton smiled a little. He thought he knew what the lad wanted. He wanted to show his neighbors that he could ride home in a big automobile. But Maxton was wrong again. "Will you stop where those two steps are?" the boy asked.
He run up the steps. hen in a little while Maxton heard him coming back ,but he was not coming fast. He was carrying his little crippled brother. He sat him down on the bottom step ,then sort of squeezed up against him and pointed to the car.
"There it is ,a little brother ,just like I told you upstairs. His friend gave it to him for birthday and it didn't cost him a penny. And some day I'm gonna give you one just like it...then you can see yourself all the pretty things in the shop windows that I've been trying to tell you about."
